The Flyers and their Push for the Ploffs

The Philadelphia Flyers, a team stuck in mediocrity the past 5 or so years either missing the playoffs or being bumped out in the first round. There hasn’t been much excitement behind this team in the post season since our run to the cup in 2010, until this season. This team has given me so much hope for the future and as of now we sit at third in the metro but not by much. This team is such a scrappy, underdog like team that I believe can make a bit of a run this year getting past the first round.

If the playoffs were to start today we would be facing the cross state rival Pittsburgh Penguins.

I would not consider this the best match up for the first round but watching this team recently we have played with such grit coming back in games we have seemed out of. They have not been playing down to their oponents and even beating teams that have been playing much better than them all year. Going into playoffs with momentum is the biggest advantage when it comes to the NHL and it showed last year with the Blues and years past with the Kings getting hot at the right time and winning as an 8 seed. As being one of the worst teams on the road this year catching heat now and risng in the seeding to get more home games in the playoffs could push this team to making far in this years Stanley Cup Playoffs. Every home playoff game in Philadelphia always feels like nothing can stop this team from winning.

Looking forward at our schedule I feel this team can be set up to make that late push to rise up in the seeding getting a decent amount of games against weaker opponents and getting most of the tougher opponents at home. I hope everyone is ready for the resurgence of the Philadelphia Flyers because in writing this post alone I have convinced myself this team is all in and ready for a deep playoff run once again. The Broad Street Bully’s are back and set up for years to come. Tonight is a night to prove it as well with the lowly St. Jose Sharks coming to town, putting a good ol shelacking on them will keep this teams rising as the season winds to the finish.

If this team has this same energy TK has in this video after the win over Columbus last week then there is no stoping this team of rats.

“Be a _______ Flyer.”
