For anyone who does not know who Brndon walker is, well he might be the biggest electric factory Barstool Sports has ever hired. I decided to write this after watching his episode of “Behind the Blog” that came out last Friday. I knew the story of how he ended up at Barstool and started to follow him as I started to listen to his college football podcast “Unnecessary Roughness” with co-host Kacey Smith. I had followed Barstool for awhile now but had not heard of B Walks yet but let me say, after the first episode I needed to figure out who this guy was. What I found was this middle aged man from Mississippi who lived and died by Mississippi state and was just a true sports fan through and through. He might be one of the funniest people they have there and its is the best because he is not trying to be funny he just is and reminds me so much of my dad when he is actually trying to make a joke, such stereotypical dad jokes you can’t help but laugh. In a world of many young talents coming and making a name for themselves in the Barstool universe as it rises in fame Brandon Walkers rise to fame in Barstool is so perfectly Barstool but very different as well.
This video shows the story of how Brandon got hired at Barstool and what a story it was. Going from doing pick streams in his basement for a FRAUD of a company (you come for Davey Pageviews you will lose) to now being the electric factory he is in all content is the success story I am here for. He goes into his whole career story in the Behind the Blog interview with KFC so I won’t do a deep dive into that but if you have time watch the video and I just wnted to share what about it and his story sticks out to me and what people should take out of it into their everyday lives.
Where his story really tugged on my heartstrings is and made me want to write about it was when he was going through his whole career in journalism and writing for the dying newspaper industry is when he talked abot his wife. It started early when he first talked about her and man it sure seems like B Walks has got himself the best lady he could have ever asked for. The amount of support, faith, and belief he said she had in him that got him through the good times and the bad times and kept his head up when he was at his lowest was amazing. It should be something to think about for everyone out there that whoever you decide is the one for you should back you up and have the same faith in you that Mrs. Walker had in him. When Brandon got in his little spat with Devlin, they also show this is the video, THIS WOMAN WAS READY TO COME KICK SOME ASS!! That is the kind of partner I hope everyone can find.
This isn’t the only message I want taken out of this though. His whole story is a testament to never giving up on yourself. The Mississippi Content Machine himself is the age where many people may start to think that wherever they are they are stuck there and that may be the peak of where they would go in life. He never gave up on himself though, he believed in himself, and he knew all he needed was that break and once he got it, he was not letting it slip out of his hands. He finally got that lucky break but what he has done with it is what matters “It was very lucky I got the opportunity,” he said, “but what you do with the opportunity is not luck”. PUT THAT IN THE ALL TIME QUOTES! If that is not on some motivational instagram page in the next year or on some kind of shirt quoted with Brandon F*cking Walker I may riot in the streets.
In all honesty I think I love Brandon so much not only because I think he is so funny, so knowledgeable about sports, and so genuine but it is because he is proof that never giving up on yourself will pay off, hard work will get you where you want to be, and no matter how much life may throw at you having that good support system around you and getting back up and fighting on will work out for the best in the end and it is everything my dad always told me my entire life.
I don’t know if he will read this, I’ll tag him in it when I post it and send it to him as well, but If you do end up opening this Brandon I just want you to know how inspiring your story is to me and thank you for everyhting you do because a lot of it puts a smile on my face everyday.
