It is finally happening, I will be attending my first Penn State football game ever. Next weekend I will be in Happy Valley to watch Penn State take on Indiana and today the news just got that much better… it is a night game.
I have to be transparent here and say I was not the biggest college football fan my entire life, I didn’t grow up with a family team that everyone really liked and no one really watched it. Also, when I finally got to the age where I was starting to get into college football more and pay attention, Penn State wasn’t exactly very popular at the time. I would say I was always a passive fan and would sort of pay attention and knew what was going on with the team.
Once I got to college though I made a lot of friends who were Penn State fans and fully dove into college football. College football Saturdays are up there with NFL Sundays for me now. Once I saw the scene of a Penn State white out for the first time… I was hooked. I love environments, and when I say that I mean sports environments that are loud rowdy and losing their minds, that was our high school and I was the mascot back then which made the juice even sweeter from the crowd so I basically live for those moments. I know most people are probably sick about hearing about the white out and this crowd but I have only ever been to one football game above the high school level and it was a Ravens game that lets be honest… a bit blurry, so this while be the biggest game I have ever been at. I plan for a very different experience here because I want to remember every moment of it.
So they already did the white out and even though this is another white out game I highly doubt it would be another white out, if it ended up being another one I might die, but again I highly doubt it. Anyway, I plan to report back with my whole experience and I expect it to be an amazing time!
How does this not get you so fired up… I can’t wait.
