Time To Diversify Your Taste People

Something everyone needs to start to understand and get on board with now is not necessarily the hottest take anymore but when I was younger most certainly was. Everyone needs to start watching anime, or at the least appreciating the art that it is.

The first thing many people cannot seem to get over when it comes to anime is just the fact that it’s animated. As someone who watches it, and has started watching it much more recently, this is one of the best reasons to start watching. What some animators can do is stunning. The way some scenes literally pop off the screen at you because the colors are so vibrant you can almost feel the heat of fire or smell the ocean, and then you get to fight scenes. Anime fights are far and away the best thing you can watch, I don’t know any other way to explain it other than I’m left stunned more often watching anime fights than anything else. Just watch these two videos, both show off exactly what I’m talking about.

The colors in this are stunning and you hopefully see what I mean how you can almost feel the fire in this scene. Also the narration behind explaining some of it really puts it into perspective, look up Deku vs Todoroki as well another stunning visual as far as colors. I also know Avatar The Last Air Bender isn’t necessarily “anime” but my point here is appreciating just animation and the art.

The movements are just so clean in these fights and they just appeal to the human eye I don’t care what you say.

The next obstacle most people encounter is sub vs dub, or even just watching something not in English. I 100% get this, I was the same way, if it wasn’t in English I was like why would I even watch this if I have to read the whole time. Don’t even try and start watching it if its in Japanese if you aren’t 100% into watching it like that. Watch ones that have English dubs first, which hard anime people will shit on and say its trash but it’s really not, just some shows do have bad English voice actors or the translation is watered down, I’m not getting into all that though. This is how I started though and what made me make the change was I was watching a show on Hulu where only like half on it was on there in English and when you get halfway through a show you get really into… you’re gonna suck it up and watch it in whatever language they give it to you in because you like the story that much. You can easily find a list of anime that have been fully dubbed and where to find them and I’ll give you a couple that I know are on Netflix fully dubbed that are widely considered to be very good. Also I’m going off the seasons it says it has on Netflix but sometime Netflix breaks up anime weird into more “seasons” than google would probably say

  • Death Note (1 season): a highly suggest one to get people into anime, think of Japanese Dexter in a way if you’ve ever watched that show
  • Hunter X Hunter (6 season): A show with many more episodes with just a very good story overall and interesting powers and even more interesting characters
  • Code Geass (2 seasons): An emotional rollercoaster of dystopian Tokyo political revolution with an interesting power
  • Seven Deadly Sins (currently 5 seasons with more to come): think of kind of an odd King Arthur medieval type world but with demons, giants, goddess’, immortals, and a talking pig that is probably a top 3 character on honor alone, it gets some shit for dropping off but I still love it
  • Demon Slayer (1 season): one of the best new anime out there, just visually stunning
  • Sword Art Online (1 season, multiple series): you remember spy kids 3D? Yeah that but like way better
  • And of course Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece all have some episodes on there and are considered the “big 3” or modern anime (they all have like 700+ episodes with One Piece having I think over 1000 now and its still ongoing

These are just some funny dubbed “English” moments that I just find hilarious and this next one shows the emotion some of these voice actors put behind their roles to really make you feel the scene and what the character is feeling in that moment.

The other argument I will make is the story telling is just better, you have to watch to even understand but the emotion, the world building, this character arcs, it’s all just better. You don’t have 1000+ episodes across multiple decades and still stand out as a top 5 anime for no reason.

And lastly, fan service. Sometimes its way over the top, but sometimes… well you can’t necessarily complain.

Guys they have ones like her in almost every show.

And girls they do it for you too, from what I gather on Tik Tok girls be simpin over Ban like you wouldn’t believe.
